JOB SUMMARYThe Career Navigator is responsible for working with Muskogee Career Center participants, assisting with career assessment, career planning, job search activities, resume development, online searches, and application assistance. Provides needs-based assessment and refers clients to internal/external supports. Assists in fulfilling annual goals as outlined in departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Bilingual skills preferred. FULL TIME POSITION ELIGIBLE FOR BENEFITS.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct one-on-one career counseling sessions with program clients to assess their career aspirations, interests, and skills.
- Provide personalized client guidance and support in creating individualized career development plans. Help in resume building, interview preparation, and job search strategies to ensure participants are well-equipped for the job market.
- Administers career assessments and aptitude tests to help individuals identify their strengths, interests, and career compatibility.
- Provides holistic client support by making referrals based on client needs to community and state resources.
- Engaging with individuals after they are placed to build a robust network of contacts facilitating opportunities for new job seekers to connect with current employees.
- Collects data related to job placements and career outcomes, employment trends, and wage rates.
- Keeping abreast of current job market trends and industry demands to tailor career services accordingly.
- Supports Career Center Manager by providing logistical support and participates in job fairs, hiring and networking events, and employer panels to connect job seekers with employers.
- Utilizes case-management software for all clients.
- Ensure a comprehensive understanding of all services provided by Goodwill.
- Assists in maintaining the Career Center's public spaces including cleaning duties.
- Participate in inter- and intra-departmental meetings as scheduled.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Reviews and is familiar with Company safety policies, programs and procedures. Adheres to all safety rules, regulations and safety codes, and attends safety training sessions and safety meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- An undergraduate degree or specialized training in vocational education, rehabilitation services, psychology or related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in job development or job placement is a plus. Bilingual abilities are a plus (but not required). Demonstrated aptitude with Windows and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- This position requires excellent customer service skills, a high degree of flexibility, and a genuine desire to assist callers, guests, clients, and employers with inquiries. An ability to read and interpret documents is required. The ability to write reports is required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, with a good driving record.
- Must maintain appropriate requirements for legal vehicle operation, including current automobile insurance inspection, and license plate.
- Must be eligible for a positive outcome on required criminal conviction background check.
- Must maintain compliance with Goodwill’s Drug and Alcohol Abuse Policy.
- Goodwill considers this a safety sensitive position because it includes tasks or duties that Goodwill reasonably believes could affect the safety and health of the employee or others.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Lifting/Carrying/Pushing/Pulling: Light Work – up to 20 pounds.
