Human Resources Manager (Hospitality) Location Bethesda, MD (Wisconsin South area) : Overview: Donohoe Hospitality Services is seeking a full-time Human Resources Manager to join the Human Resources department of our Bethesda, MD headquarters. The Human Resources Manager provides support and consultation to hotel management and employees on company policy and HR matters, and partners with the corporate HR team to ensure compliance with Federal/State and local employment laws.

EOE, including disability/veterans Responsibilities: Key responsibilities include:
  • Advise and counsel hotel managers and executive leadership on escalated employee relations issues, policy interpretation, performance management, discipline, workforce planning and leaves of absences.
  • Manage employee complaints, including conducting and documenting investigations.
  • Coach managers on building more effective teams and assisting with employee engagement activities, including the annual opinion survey.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and coordinate brand and leadership training.
  • Monitor and maintains compliance requirements.
  • Serve as HR administrator for performance review process.
  • Work with corporate HR to develop effective recruitment strategies and attend recruiting events.
  • Issue offer letters, conduct background checks, and perform onboarding activities.
  • Transition hotels into the company, working closely with on-site management to establish Donohoe culture, support employee morale and comply with state/local employment laws.
Qualifications: To be successful in this position, you should have:
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of HR or related experience is required. HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR or PHR) is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of federal, state, and local employment law is required.
  • Previous HR experience in hospitality, food services, or facilities management is a plus.
  • Ability to travel to hotels in our portfolio (DC, Maryland, Virginia) on a regular basis is required.
  • The ability to communicate ideas and recommendations clearly and concisely is critical.
  • The ideal candidate is diplomatic, approachable, and able to maintain confidentiality; Dynamic, self-motivated, organized, attentive to details, able to prioritize and has exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong employee relations, problem solving, written and oral communication, and influencing skills are essential.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees, business partners, and management. Must also be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, HCM/HRIS experience is required.
